Don't Worry, They Have 18 months to Fix the Gas Leak!

I guess that hit a gas line and it might blow; CPD are freaking the fluck out CFD is like get everyone out of there, we will call the gas company to have them shut it off, my reply OH DON'T Worry they have 18 months to fix it Here is my BEEF and reply ' OH DON'T Worry they have 18 months to fix it. WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is what we where told by Columbia Gas company about the gas leak we called about 2 weels ago. The leak is so bad it almost knocked me on my butt just walking past it when Steve and I went to talk to the Gas Company about the leak. They said Oh it's been reported last year they have 18 months to fix it. Thank you for reporting it I put it in the computer. 🙂 Nothing was done because they have 18 months to fix it. 🤬 I've since talked to my neighbor who lives next door to where the leak is coming from and she was like Girl, it was so scary the other week I went out front to check my mail and saw a truck with flashing lights and he told me to go back into my house because there was a gas leak, so I did. That's when I went on to tell her that we had called about it and what they told us. She was like Let everyone know. I said we have tried calling the news and they are just kinda like eeee, and A+ Childrens Academy has been called to telling them with the # we called from so if they wanted to get in touch with us. We have heard Nothing from anyone and my/our thoughts

The folly of laws that force action upon the occurrence of some triggering event was on full display last week as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had to strip the United States of its voting rights because of nonpayment of dues that the government actually wanted to pay for the last two years but could not. The move is expected to cost at least 1,000 American jobs and undermine American influence around the world.

The U.S.-UNESCO conflict goes back to two laws passed by Congress in 1990 and 1994 that require the government to cease funding any UN agency that accepts Palestine as a full member. Nearly 20 years later, in 2011, the government was forced to stop all support for UNESCO after the organization voted to grant Palestine full membership. Despite reform efforts led by the Obama administration in 2011 and 2012, Congress refused to alter or amend the law.

Under UNESCO’s constitution, however, any nation that fails to pay dues for two years loses its vote in the UNESCO general assembly. That made UNESCO’s vote-stripping automatic, just as the U.S. “decision” to withhold dues was unavoidable under federal law. The U.S. had never before voluntarily given up its vote in a UN organization, according to diplomats.  

“I deeply regret this,” said UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova in an interview Friday at agency headquarters. “This is not some kind of punishment on behalf of Unesco for nonpayment. It’s just our rules.”  

The U.S. ambassador to UNESCO, David T. Killion, said at the ongoing UNESCO general conference in Paris that “UNESCO is a critical partner in creating a better future,” that the Obama administration was committed to restoring funding and that the U.S. would continue to participate as a nonvoting member in the meantime.  MORE

DREAM Act bill would have most impact in California, Texas

DREAM Act bill could provide legal status for some young illegal immigrants.

 

Immigrants in Texas and California would be the biggest winners if Congress and President Barack Obama support legislation allowing young illegal immigrants to acquire U.S. legal status based on education and military service, according to a study released last week.

The analysis by the Migration Policy Institute, a nonprofit group that researches immigration issues, concluded that the bill introduced last year could put approximately 2.1 million youth and young adults on a potential path to citizenship.
The institute estimated that only 38 percent of potential beneficiaries — 825,000 people — would likely obtain permanent legal status through the education and military routes set out in the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, or DREAM Act.
“Many potential DREAM Act beneficiaries would face difficulties in meeting the legislation’s higher education or military service requirements,” said Margie McHugh, co-author of the study. Inability to pay college tuition and problems with English proficiency would reduce the number of potential beneficiaries, she said.
California would have the most potential beneficiaries with 553,000 youngsters theoretically able to meet the requirements, the report said.  Texas would come in second, with just over 250,000 possible beneficiaries, followed by Florida with 192,000, New York with 146,000 and Arizona, with 114,000.
