NAACP direct tie to Black Panthers

July 14, 2010, 11:49AM
**UPDATE Below (Response from the NAACP Legal Defense Fund)
In the past 24 hours, more than a few pundits and writers have noted that the NAACP resolution accusing Tea Partiers of racism is hard to swallow when the NAACP seems unconcerned with the New Black Panther voting intimidation case. Their points would be valid by analogy only. Their points are even more valid, though, because of a direct, rather than just analagous, tie between the NAACP and the Panther case.
It was first reported here at the Washington Times that “Kristen Clarke, director of political participation at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in Washington, however, confirmed to The Times that she talked about the case with lawyers at the Justice Department and shared copies of the complaint with several persons. She said, however, her organization was ‘not involved in the decision to dismiss the civil complaint.’”
Ms. Clarke testified to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights a few months back that that account was wrong. But J. Christian Adams, the main lawyer who built the case against the Black Panthers, contradicted her when he testified to the commission on July 6. Here is the exchange between Mr. Adams and commission general counsel David Blackwood:more

NAACP Approves Of Racist ‘Cracker Calling’ Remarks Made By Black Lawmaker

(West Memphis, AR) April Grabowski is shocked by the racist name-calling lawmaker Hubert Bass hurled in a letter to the West Memphis Evening Times editor.
The Crittenden County lawmaker starts by aiming at the white lawmakers he works with saying, “I expected those white, racist cracker b——-  to do what they did; they’re predictable you know.”

“If he’s in a place like that than he is a role model and people are going to look up to him so he shouldn’t say things like that, especially in this area,” said Grabowski. “It’s just kind of inappropriate.” Bass goes on to target people of his own race saying, “…and we should make NO excuses for sell-out n——, they put our lives in danger and the lives of our children in danger every time they make decisions against our best interest for their white, cracker bosses.”
“I don’t think it’s right for him to do that,” said Stephanie Spencer. “He wouldn’t want someone calling him that.”
The letter reads on saying, “These crackers aren’t superhuman. Yes, they bleed red blood, they die and bullets don’t bounce of their chests, they are not GOD. In fact they are the devil.”
However, Bass is defending his divisive words, “The vast majority of the community believes it’s true. I’m saying what a lot of people are thinking that they won’t say that needs to be said.”
Bass argues there is a white supremacy in Crittenden County and that a small few oppress the majority black community. He’s hoping his words will spark an uprising among African-Americans to get involved politically and push against injustice.more

NAACP urges Frankel to take action over racist videos

The president of the local chapter of the NAACP is urging Mayor Lois Frankel to take swift and strong action against those who posted a racist video on the Internet, lampooning a city firefighter who has spent years trying to prove he’s been overlooked for promotions because he’s black.
Even if the city can’t identify who posted the video on YouTube.com, it should decry it, said NAACP president Lia Gaines.
“It certainly should be strongly condemned,” she said Tuesday. “The city should send a clear message that it won’t tolerate things like that.”
The obscenity-laced video was posted last month after Capt. Rick Curtis was charged with DUI. He is contesting it.
In the animated video, a not-very-thinly veiled caricature of Curtis repeatedly throws the race card when stopped by a white officer.
“You are a cracker ass racist cop. I am a captain at the fire department,” the Curtis character, dressed in gold chains, repeatedly tells the cop.
The cop who looks like a Lego character replies: “I think you are a terrible fire captain and you are making the other firefighters at your fire department look bad. All the other firefighters must hate your guts.”

3 White Teachers Removed From Class Over Black Hero Choices

Three Los Angeles elementary school teachers accused of giving children portraits of O.J. Simpson, Dennis Rodman and RuPaul to carry in a Black History Month parade have been removed from their classrooms,
Children from other classes at the school displayed photos of more appropriate black role models, such as Nelson Mandela, Harriet Tubman and President Barack Obama,
District Superintendent Ramon Cortines placed the teachers — all white men who teach first, second and fourth grades — on administrative leave on Tuesday while an investigation is conducted, Pollard-Terry said.
“The superintendent will not let anyone make a mockery out of Black History Month,” she said.
The issue was brought to district officials’ attention by the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP after the organization received a complaint early Monday, chapter President Leon Jenkins said.
Jenkins said he felt the teachers acted in concert to mock black heroes and children’s innocence.
“These are not the people we want our young people to emulate or believe these people represent the best of the African-American community,” Jenkins said. “It’s hard for the NAACP to believe this was a mistake.”
Simpson, a former NFL star, is serving a nine-year prison sentence for robbery and kidnapping. He was famously acquitted in 1995 of murdering his ex-wife and her friend.
RuPaul is a drag queen performer.
Rodman, a former NBA star, has gained notoriety for bad boy behavior on and off the basketball court.
Some parents at the school on Wednesday said the issue was overblown. Sharon Tinson, who has two daughters at the school and attended Friday’s celebration, said she had been surprised to see Simpson displayed in the parade. But she noted that Simpson, like Rodman, was a great athlete before falling from grace. RuPaul simply has an alternative lifestyle, she added.  She noted the event also included a tribute to pop singer Michael Jackson, who has also had a checkered career.More

NAACP Condemns Off-Campus ‘Compton Cookout’

The University of California, San Diego’s student-run television station was shut down over racially offensive language, which was used on a program in which an off-campus party held by fraternity members mocking Black History Month was being discussed,  UCSD students who operate an alternative newspaper known as The Koala used the racially offensive language on Thursday night. The Koala staff also allegedly left a racially inflammatory note inside the television station,
The note on the studio floor read “Compton lynching,” according to a local TV station.Video: Noose Discovery

Monday’s party, allegedly organized by some members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, was themed “Compton Cookout” and urged attendees to dress and act in a manner perpetuating racist stereotypes.
Black student leaders attended an emotionally charged forum at UCSD Friday where they handed Chancellor Marye Anne Fox a list of 32 demands, according to KPBS. Those demands ranged from creating a safe, central space for black students on campus to fully funding recruitment efforts for black students, according to the station.  “This event was intended and did expose the true feeling of a group of people, who either are racist, who acted out their beliefs, or people who say they are not racist, but engaged in acts that were racist,” said Leon Jenkins, president of the Los Angeles branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.  The NAACP maintains that if the university does not sanction those involved, it will “send a less than clear message that such future reckless or intentional behavior will not be tolerated,See 10news

San Diego students storm offices after noose found
Anger boiled over on the University of California San Diego campus Friday, where students took over the chancellor’s office for several hours to protest the hanging of a noose in a campus library.  Students wearing red handkerchiefs over their faces blocked the doors to Chancellor Marye Anne Fox’s offices for hours, while more students inside chanted “Real pain, real change.”

The noose found dangling from a light fixture on the seventh floor of Geisel Library on Thursday night was the latest in a string of racially charged incidents in the university community, authorities said Friday. Less than two weeks ago, an off-campus party mocking Black History Month ignited racial tensions.  A University of California statement said a student admitted she and two other people were responsible. The statement did not identify the students or their race or include a motive.more USATODAY

A coed who admitted putting the knotted rope in the library was suspended, and the incident was being investigated as a possible hate crime and an act committed “with intent to terrorize,” said campus spokesman Rex Graham.School officials also were looking into whether the off-campus party broke campus rules. A fraternity that was said to have sponsored the party has denied any involvement.Earlier this week at UC Irvine, a Jewish student found a swastika carved into her dorm room door, days after 11 Irvine students were arrested for interrupting a talk by Israel’s ambassador Michael Oren at the Irvine campus. Some Jewish groups have said Irvine’s chancellor has not done enough to counter alleged anti-Semitic actions on the campus and have called for a boycott of the school.more

A.G. Holder to Speak at CAIR Affiliated Dinner

CAIR is an un-indicted co-conspirator, they are the front of the Muslim Brotherhood, their leadership has many past times to the worst terrorists the world has known. They support Hamas and AG Holder is a keynote speaker at a dinner affiliated with CAIR.
CAIT should be on the State department list of sponsors of terror.

Muslim Brotherhood Plot to Take Over America

America, your President is aligned with Islamic terrorists. Now what?
Despite ban, Holder to speak to CAIR-linked group

Attorney General Eric Holder has agreed to give a keynote speech next week to a Michigan group which includes the local branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations even though the FBI has formally severed contacts with the controversial Muslim civil rights organization.

On Nov. 19, Holder is scheduled to speak in Detroit to the first annual awards banquet of Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust, a coalition of several dozen law enforcement and community groups. An online registration form for the event includes the Council on American Islamic Relations-Michigan on a list of “official & participating organizations.”

A spokeswoman for ALPACT confirmed that CAIR is a member of the coalition.

“CAIR has been involved for a while,” said Chandra McMillion, community development facilitator for ALPACT. “CAIR is listed as an official member.”

The executive director of CAIR’s Michigan chapter, Dawud Walid, also confirmed its involvement with ALPACT. “It’s really nothing controversial. We’ve been part of this organization for years,” he said. “We meet every month and included with us is the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the FBI.”

Walid said he is a regular at ALPACT meetings—including one held Friday at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit. “A lot of people are there: the NAACP, the ACLU, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee…the National Lawyers’ Guild,” he said.

The FBI claims it cut “formal contacts” with CAIR after federal prosecutors in the 2007 criminal trial of officers of a Texas-based Islamic charity, the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, introduced documents the government said showed links between CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood, which gave rise to Hamas.

“Until we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and HAMAS, the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner,” FBI Congressional liaison Richard Powers wrote in an April letter to Senator Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.).

The Justice Department referred questions about Holder’s speech and CAIR’s involvement to the FBI’s field office in Detroit which, in turn, referred the questions to FBI headquarters in Washington.
