Two neo-Nazis who want to turn a small North Dakota town into an all-white community were being held without bail Tuesday after allegedly threatening and intimidating citizens while "patrolling" the town with their weapons.

Craig Cobb, 62, and Kynan Dutton, 29, are each charged with seven counts of terrorizing residents of Leith, five of them involving guns. The pair could face mandatory minimum sentences of two years in jail for each, the Bismarck Tribune reports.

Cobb gained national attention recently when he appeared on theTrisha Goddard Show's "Race in America" series and agreed to undergo DNA testing. The results showed he is 14% sub-Saharan African and 86% European. Cobb rejected the results as "short science" and "statistical noise".

In a text message to the Tribune before he was taken into custody Saturday afternoon, Cobb said, "Because of the many violences (sic) and harassments against we (sic) and the children, we have commenced armed patrols of Leith." In a follow up text, Cobb said he has new plans to name some of his property the "Adolph Hitler Pvt. Park of Leith."

Cobb, a hate crimes fugitive from Canada with a long history of association with hate groups and white separatist believers, has been embroiled with the town council for months over his attempt to buy up property and bring in enough neo-Nazi sympathizers to take over the town council.

Grant County records show that Cobb, who has purchased 13 lots, has since transferred ownership of two lots: one to Tom Metzger, a former grand dragon of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in California, which founded the White Aryan Resistance, and another to Alex Linder, originator of the Vanguard News Network, a white supremacist website, according to the civil rights group Southern Poverty Law Center.  >>more from USA Today<<

Ron Paul, Birch President to Speak at Anti-Semitic Conference

Beyond the obvious, what do a far-right Italian politician, the president of the John Birch Society and former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul have in common?

Is Ron Paul an Anti-Semite? Absolutely No. As a Jew, (half on my mother’s side), I can categorically say that I never heard anything out of his mouth, in hundreds of speeches I listened too over the years, or in my personal presence that could be called, “Anti-Semite.” No slurs. No derogatory remarks.

He is however, most certainly Anti-Israel, and Anti-Israeli in general. He wishes the Israeli state did not exist at all. He expressed this to me numerous times in our private conversations. His view is that Israel is more trouble than it is worth, specifically to the America taxpayer. He sides with the Palestinians, and supports their calls for the abolishment of the Jewish state, and the return of Israel, all of it, to the Arabs.

In early September, the men are all scheduled to speak – along with a lengthy list of archconservative clergy, lawyers and academics – at a conference in Canada sponsored by the Fatima Center, part of the “radical traditionalist Catholic” movement, perhaps the single largest group of hard-core anti-Semites in North America.

Paul, the former Texas congressman and Republican presidential candidate, is the keynote speaker of the weeklong conference slated for Sept. 8-13 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. A physician before entering politics, Paul got into considerable hot water in 2008 when The New Republic published “Angry White Man,” an article about the contents of newsletters he published. What the newsletters revealed, the magazine reported, “are decades worth of obsession with conspiracies, sympathy for the right-wing militia movement, and deeply held bigotry against blacks, Jews and gays.” Paul denied writing the newsletters that bore his name.

The conference is titled, “Fatima: The Path to Peace” and “is a call,” according to a Fatima Center press release, “to a return to sanity in the government of the world and the Church, for the two cannot be separated.”  >more from SPLC Hatewatch<

Tinley Park ‘Mob Attack’ Aftermath: Fundraising Emerges for Both Sides

Radical solidarity, usually measured in bodies, bombs and bombast, is now being measured in dollars.

Donation pages have been established for people on both sides of a blitzkrieg inside the Ashford House Restaurant on Saturday.

Five Indiana men, along with 13 companions, connected with the Anti-Racist Action (ARA)movement are accused of targeting and beating an unsuspecting group of white nationalists. What supposedly began as the first meeting of the European Heritage Association (EHA)—which looks to provide resources for small business owners of their kind—ended in mob violence.

One page hoping to garner $250,000 for bail, “adequate legal representation” and the care of their families of the men arrested has reached $850 in a couple days.

Mark Potok, senior fellow with the Southern Poverty Law Center, said the ARA has a long-standing history of violence—one Tinley Park Patch will delve into more this Friday. Potok is also the editor in chief of the law center’s investigative magazine, The Intelligence Report.

“The ARA, you have to understand, they think they’re heroes right now,” Potok said.

On Twitter, a feed dedicated to helping the “Tinley Park Five” was created. Its profile picture shows a spray-painted Pac-Man feeding on a swastika.

The author of another site is seeking donations for the men and women targeted in the attack, as well as “damages to the restaraunt (sic)” and “childrens (sic) charities.” As of Wednesday afternoon, it had raised nothing.

Bail for the Five totals $975,000, 10 percent of which must be posted for release.

The defendants, three of whom are brothers, were charged each Monday with one count of felony mob action, aggravated battery and criminal damage to property. Bail for Cody Sutherlin, 23, was set at $200,000 and $175,000 each for Dylan Sutherlin, 20, Alex Stuck, 22, and John Tucker, 26. The highest amount of $250,000 was pinned on Jason Sutherlin, 33.

Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Deno said that’s because he was convicted of an Indiana burglary in 1998. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison but only served two. He successfully completed probation in 2008, Deno said. more

A White Chicago teacher sues after being suspended for using SPLC’s curriculum for right to discuss and say “N—–” word in Class.

A white Chicago school teacher who was suspended for leading a class discussion about the “N-word,” race relations and racism has sued the school district for what he sees as unjust punishment.

Lincoln Brown, 48, a sixth-grade writing and social studies teacher at Murray Language Academy, said he turned a bad classroom situation – in which one student wrote a rap calling another student a n***** – into “a teachable moment.”

“I looked at it and it had some words in it that were very offensive to me and that’s when we came into this discussion of the N-word,” Brown said of the October incident. “And I used the curriculum from the Southern Poverty Law Center, and followed their advice on how to tackle these kinds of problems, not to avoid them. The whole lesson basically was about racial profiling, racisim and also being very careful about how you use words in public.”

Straight Talk about the N-Word

The n-word is unique in the English language. On one hand, it is the ultimate insult- a word that has tormented generations of African Americans. Yet over time, it has become a popular term of endearment by the descendents of the very people who once had to endure it. Among many young people today—black and white—the n-word can mean friend.

How did the n-word become such a scathing insult?
We know, at least in the history I’ve looked at, that the word started off as just a descriptor, “negro,” with no value attached to it. … We know that as early as the 17th century, “negro” evolved to “nigger” as intentionally derogatory, and it has never been able to shed that baggage since then—even when black people talk about appropriating and reappropriating it. The poison is still there. The word is inextricably linked with violence and brutality on black psyches and derogatory aspersions cast on black bodies. No degree of appropriating can rid it of that bloodsoaked history.

Most public school teachers are white women. How might they hold class discussions about this word? Do you think it would help them to lay some groundwork?
You might want to get somebody from the outside who is African American to be a central part of any discussion— an administrator, a parent, a pastor or other professional with some credibility and authority. Every white teacher out there needs to know some black people. Black people can rarely say they know no white people; it’s a near social impossibility.

What should teachers keep in mind as they teach about the n-word?
Remember the case of the white teacher who told the black student to sit down and said, “Sit down, nigga.” And then the teacher is chastised by the administration and of course there is social disruption. He said, “I didn’t say ‘Sit down, nigger,’ I said ‘Sit down, nigga,’ and that’s what I hear the students saying.” I’m thinking, first, you are an adult, white teacher. Secondly, do you imitate everything that you see and hear others doing or saying? At some level, there has to be some self-critique and critical awareness and sensitivity to difference. Just because someone else is doing it doesn’t mean that I do it even if and when I surely can.

His principal, Greg Mason, who is black, heard the discussion and came into the room to listen further, Brown said. Mason stayed for 10 minutes, and then left and came back 10 minutes later, as the discussion had turned to racial stereotypes in movies.

Two weeks later, however, Mason called Brown into his office and accused him of misconduct, specifically abuse of language in front of students and other charges, Brown said. Later, he was told he was receiving a five-day suspension.

Brown, shocked by the allegations and punishment, appealed to the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education, which denied his appeal.

“It’s something I can’t accept and can’t have on my record and more importantly it’s not who I am,” said Brown, who grew up in the neighborhood, attended schools where he was in the white minority and grew up to teach in predominantly African- American schools for more than 25 years.

Brown said he has taught many lessons, albeit more structured ones, on the use of the “N-Word” and other contentious race issues over the years, including teaching the book “Huckleberry Finn.”

He said he always used the advice given by the Southern Poverty Law Center to help guide the discussions about the word, and drew on those guidelines when the discussion arose in October.

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Citrus Heights police found one person dead and another injured at the scene of a shooting early Wednesday morning.

It happened shortly before 4 a.m. on the 5900 block of Merlindale Drive. When police arrived they said they found a 40-year-old man dead inside of a bedroom with gunshot wounds to his head and chest and 33-year-old woman who had been shot in the leg. She was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center.

CITRUS HEIGHTS — 

A website is claiming a man shot and killed Wednesday morning in Citrus Heights was the leader of a skinhead organization.

Just before 4 a.m. Citrus Heights cops were called from inside a home on Merlindale Drive about shots fired. They found a 40-year-old man dead and a 33-year-old woman injured.

There are no signs of forced entry into the home, and investigators onscene told FOX40 there was no immediate sign of the weapon used in the incident.

The website Souther Poverty Law Center says law enforcement sources told them the man killed was David Lynch. Lynch is allegedly a skinhead activist who organized groups on the east coast back in the 1980's, and moved to California in the 1990's. According to the site's blog, Hatewatch, Lynch had recently been trying to unite skinheads in the west.

NEW YORK – Finally, help is on the way for America's downtrodden white males. Lloyd Grove reports on a controversial new college scholarship that targets a demographic not normally singled out for financial aid.

Finally—help is on the way for America’s downtrodden white males, especially the ones who believe they’ve been shut out of all that financial aid that is apparently being ladled like gravy on non-Caucasian college kids.

“It’s about time,” intones Texas State University business student William Lake, quoting an email he says was received the other day by the Former Majority Association for Equality, the scholarship fund he helped create to address this alleged injustice. “When we decided to start this scholarship, the conversation was primarily along the lines of ‘There is something out there for almost any and every demographic, but we don’t see anything out there for this demographic.’ So we decided to go ahead and at least contribute toward a solution.”

Lake, the nonprofit’s 30-year-old finance director, explains: “Our qualifications are pretty simple. Basically, you have to be at least a 25 percent Caucasian male and have to have demonstrated a commitment to your education with at least a 3.0 grade average, demonstrate financial need, and show you’re contributing positively to your community.”

As of Monday, a few days after the Austin American Statesman published a story on the fund, it had collected only about $3,000, according to Lake—enough to grant five fortunate white males $500 each for the fall 2011 term. The goal is to grant worthy young white men $1,000 apiece for the spring 2012 term.

It seems, by most measures, a minuscule amount—maybe enough to purchase books for a semester or pay for a small percentage of Texas State’s tuition. Predictably, however, the group is attracting millions of dollars in free publicity, given that the often volatile nature of discussions about race is catnip for the media.

“The idea that they are going to be helped by $500 seems silly on its face,” Potok says. “I’m not accusing these guys of being racist. Maybe they’re merely foolish.”

Texas State communications and broadcasting major Colby Bohannan, the 28-year-old president of the Former Majority Association for Equality, spent much of Monday conducting press interviews while shuttlingbetween appearances on CNN and Austin’s Fox affiliate. On Tuesday, he’s been booked to appear on MSNBC.

“I’m not claiming that it’s a disadvantage to be a white male; I’m just recognizing that there is a subset of white and male that cannot afford the money for school,” says Bohannan, who describes himself as a twice-deployed Iraq War veteran who was honorably discharged from the Army last year after shattering his elbow during a football game in a combat zone. “We’re trying to help those people better their own lives. We’re not making any political claims. We’re just trying to help people.” 

“It looks to me like a simple provocation,” says Mark Potok, who monitors hate groups for the Montgomery, Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center. “These people have fallen directly into the ever more popular myth of white oppression in America. The reality is that whites, to this day, have enormous privileges in landing scholarships and have real advantages in finding places at good schools.”

Potok says he isn’t impressed by the Former Majority Association for Equality’s avowed benign intentions, pointing out that professional racist David Duke, of the European-American Rights Organization, has used similar anodyne arguments while making a big show of sending money to poor whites in Appalachia. Potok also cited one of Duke’s favorite tracts, racial theorist Wilmot Robertson’s influential and wildly popular 1972 book, The Dispossessed Majority, which argued that the relative population decline of the United States’ white founding stock, compared to rise of non-Caucasians and immigrants, was allowing the nation to fall under the pernicious influence of foreign interests and Jews.

“I find it hard to believe that these people really think that white males are one oppressed minority, and the idea that they are going to be helped by $500 seems silly on its face,” Potok says. “I’m not accusing these guys of being racist. Maybe they’re merely foolish.”MORE

More Proof That Whites Are Forbidden To Have Pride In Their Race, Culture or Trying To Preserve and Celebrate it.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia—International Day for the Elimination of Racism coming up on March 21 could see a clash between protesters as neo-Nazis plan to rally in Calgary, Vancouver, and Victoria.
According to the Anti Racist Network (ARN), white-supremacist demonstrations are planned for B.C.’s Lower Mainland and Victoria on Sunday. What is traditionally the International Day for the Elimination of Racism, the neo-Nazis have declared White Pride Worldwide Day.

ARN, the activist group No One Is Illegal (NOII), and others are preparing a counter-rally to confront white supremacist groups such as Blood and Honour Canada, and Advocates for White Civil Rights.
ARN says it expects hundreds to show up in support of multiculturalism.
In Calgary, the neo-Nazi/white pride groups Aryan Guard and White European Bloodlines are also expected to rally. At last year’s event in Calgary, an estimated 500 anti-racists confronted 30 white supremacists, resulting in violence and three arrests.
White pride demonstrations have taken place on the day in Calgary and Toronto in recent years, but observers say gatherings have not occurred in British Columbia for some time.
“It is unfortunate to see that this kind of open display of intolerance would come to the streets of any place in Canada,” said Bromberg. “To watch these guys march down the street if you were, for instance, a holocaust survivor—it’s a pretty scary moment.”
March 21 has been recognized the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination since 1960 after the massacre of demonstrators demanding an end to apartheid in Sharpesville, South Africa.
It has only been since 2000 that neo-Nazi and white nationalist organizations have claimed March 21 as White Pride Worldwide Day against what they call multi-racial supremacy.
The white pride movement has been growing alongside a burgeoning music business worth more than $3.4 million, according to Interpol and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Ironically, although white power music has been driven underground due to bans throughout Europe, the United States has become a Mecca and haven for the industry due to First Amendment protections.
Power music song lyrics fan feelings of anger, blind rage, and violent tendencies, and frequently include exhortations to kill.

Officials see rise in militia groups across U.S.

Militia groups with gripes against the government are regrouping across the country and could grow rapidly, according to an organization that tracks such trends.

The stress of a poor economy and a liberal administration led by a black president are among the causes for the recent rise, the report from the Southern Poverty Law Center says. Conspiracy theories about a secret Mexican plan to reclaim the Southwest are also growing amid the public debate about illegal immigration.

Bart McEntire, a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, told SPLC researchers that this is the most growth he's seen in more than a decade.

"All it's lacking is a spark," McEntire said in the report.

Last October, someone from the Ohio Militia posted a recruiting video on YouTube, billed as a "wake-up call" for America. It's been viewed more than 60,000 times.

"Things are bad, things are real bad, and it's going to be a lot worse," said the man on the video, who did not give his name. "Our country is in peril."

The man is holding an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, and he encourages viewers to buy one.

While anti-government sentiment has been on the rise over the last two years, there aren't as many threats and violent acts at this point as there were in the 1990s, according to the report. That movement bore the likes of Timothy McVeigh, who in 1995 blew up a federal building in Oklahoma City and killed 168 people.
