I call it The 'Satan Beetle'

This was on my back door Sunday morning, someone else caught it and put it in a container until we could figure out what it was. it's wicked evil looking I called it a 'Satan Beetle' lol then I said I thought it looked like an Egyptian Scarab looking beetle. I have never seen one in my life and neither had anyone in my family who have lived here their whole lives. I went out on the back porch to check it out some more, and I saw some neighbors that live behind me that happen to be from Africa, so I was like pfft F-it, I'll ask maybe they would know as much as I hated to ask, but worse came to worse they won't know.

So I brought the container with me to the back of my fence and said Excuse me loudly, I got the couples attention they both looked my way and waved. I was like hate to bother you but have either of you ever seen a bug like this before. The woman got the creepy crawlies and ewwwwwww, thats when i told her I called it a Satan Beetle, she laughed. I also said it sorta reminded me of an Egyptian Scarab then the African man took the container looking at it like Yes I have seen one of these before,(in my head I was thinking figures) then he asked me if I came from a Village I was like WHAT.....NO, then he said do you have any livestock around. I looked at him horrified like WHAT. He then told me it was a Dung Beetle that liked Livestock Poop. He also told me they where harmless, and really pretty social. I then thanked them and came in and checked it out for myself online and it's pretty interesting. Although like I said both of my parents who grew up in the country(farmland) plenty of livestock around/small town said they had never ever seen one before in their whole lives, either. I had a good eye though and was right it's in the same family as the Scarab but it wound up being a Dung Beetle. I mean I kept checking it out through out the day because I didn't know what it was and if it got loose I just kept thinking what pain those pincers could inflict. After reading about it and I saw that it was a pretty beneficial insect to nature and pretty much harmless I let it go.
