U.S. moves quickly to bury slain al Qaeda leader in accordance with Muslim tradition

Osama bin Laden, the long-time figurehead of the al Qaeda terrorist network, has been buried at sea after being killed in a U.S. raid in Pakistan.
U.S. officials told CBS News that bin Laden’s body would be handled in accordance with Muslim traditions, which include strict rules on burial taking place within 24 hours after death.

WASHING THE BODY
1. A male’s body is to be washed by a male.
2. A female’s body should be washed by a female.
3. A minor’s body can be washed by either a man or a woman
4. A husband can wash his wife’s body and vice versa.

PROCEDURE FOR WASHING THE BODY
1. Place the body on the washing table.
2. Keeping the private parts of the body covered, remove all other garments from the body.
3. Gently but firmly press the stomach and clean out by a towel or cloth any excertions that may have resulted by stomach pressing.
The body is now ready for washing. Body should be washed with your hands or a piece of clean cloth. Use clean and warm water to wash the body.

Bin Laden was a Saudi national, but officials tell CBS News that the Kingdom was unwilling to have his remains repatriated.

He was killed in a U.S. raid launched early Monday in the relatively-well-heeled town of Abbottabad, near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

For over two decades, bin Laden has been al Qaeda’s leader and symbol, and has continued to plot attacks against our country and our friends and allies. The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al Qaeda.

Yet his death does not mark the end of our effort. There’s no doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must — and we will — remain vigilant at home and abroad.

As we do, we must also reaffirm that the United States is not — and never will be — at war with Islam. I’ve made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims. Indeed, al Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many countries, including our own. So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity.

Ok, probably nothing, maybe something.

The U.S. Government needs 350,934 National Detainee Handbooks printed by 29 April 2011. Here’s a 2007 English version of the National Detainee Handbook. I don’t know if that’s the same document as what has been ordered below.

The GPO solicitation went out on 18 April and the handbooks must be delivered by 29 April. Is eleven days a short time for something like this? I have no idea, but clicking on “Jacket Number: 735-412/413” brings up a specification document, which states the following:

TIME CRITICAL:
Notify Ron Boyum at 312-353-3916 x 17 or at rboyum@gpo.gov of the delivery status in the morning 2 days prior to the first shipment to meet the at destination delivery date. [sic]

This is a time-critical order. For the purpose of this contract, the provision in GPO Contract Terms Pub. 310.2 (Rev. 6-01) for schedule extensions does not apply. No automatic extensions of schedules will be made. All interested contractors must commit to the original schedule. Shipments must be made by a carrier that will guarantee delivery at destination within the specified schedule. Carrier’s “targets” in lieu of “guaranteed” deliveries will not be acceptable.

They seem pretty serious about needing the handbooks by 29 April.

Under SB 5, Ohio will be first state required to base teacher pay on performance

COLUMBUS

Ohio’s new law to limit collective bargaining for public workers could make it the first state with a mandatory system to pay teachers based on their performance.

The measure passed by the Republican-led Legislature and signed by GOP Gov. John Kasich bans strikes by public workers and replaces automatic pay increases with merit raises or performance pay. That means it eliminates salary schedules and step increases of 110,000 full-time public teachers in the state, The Plain Dealer reported Sunday.

Ohio would be the first state in the U.S. to replace automatic raises with a performance-based pay system for teachers statewide, said Kathy Christie, chief of staff for the Denver-based Education Commission of the States, a nonpartisan group that researches education policy.

“That is the type of component that really, really resonates with the public,“ she told the newspaper. ”If you are not pulling your weight, if you are not getting performance, if you are not tenacious and really trying to learn and all those sorts of things you want to see teachers doing, then you don’t move up at all.“

Sunday, June 27, 2004 Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.  The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative. Ryan’s campaign began to crumble on Monday following the release of embarrassing records from his divorce. In the records, his ex-wife, Boston Public actress Jeri Ryan, said her former husband took her to kinky sex clubs in Paris, New York and New Orleans.

“It’s clear to me that a vigorous debate on the issues most likely could not take place if I remain in the race,” Ryan, 44, said in a statement. “What would take place, rather, is a brutal, scorched-earth campaign – the kind of campaign that has turned off so many voters, the kind of politics I refuse to play.”

Although Ryan disputed the allegations, saying he and his wife went to one ‘avant-garde’ club in Paris and left because they felt uncomfortable, lashed out at the media and said it was “truly outrageous” that the Chicago Tribune got a judge to unseal the records.

The Republican choice will become an instant underdog in the campaign for the seat of retiring Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald, since Obama held a wide lead even before the scandal broke.

“I feel for him actually,” Obama told a Chicago TV station. “What he’s gone through over the last three days I think is something you wouldn’t wish on anybody.”

The Republican state committee must now choose a replacement for Ryan, who had won in the primaries against seven contenders. Its task is complicated by the fact that Obama holds a comfortable lead in the polls and is widely regarded as a rising Democratic star.

The chairwoman of the Illinois Republican Party, Judy Topinka, said at a news conference, after Ryan withdrew, that Republicans would probably take several weeks to settle on a new candidate.

“Obviously, this is a bad week for our party and our state,” she said.

As recently as Thursday, spokesmen for the Ryan campaign still insisted that Ryan would remain in the race. Ryan had defended himself saying, “There’s no breaking of any laws. There’s no breaking of any marriage laws. There’s no breaking of the Ten Commandments anywhere.”

New Black Panthers call for 60 city “Showdown”

The New Black Panther Party is calling for a 60 city day of rage. They will be protesting non-Black businesses. Rumor has it that there will be a boycott of all work normally done by Black workers. This will obviously bring our economy to a screeching halt!

On a serious note, however they really are planning their day of rage and plan to protest non-Black owned businesses.

“Like in Tahir square in Egypt we will establish this historic location for our revolution and our demands,” the website explains. “Over 1,000 are expected in this historic outdoor political rally.”

The site goes on to explain why its rallying:

As in other revolutions, protests and uprisings going on around the earth, a showdown is looming for Saturday April 23rd as marchers with the ”National International Day of Action and Unity” are furious andfrustrated with New York officials blatant discrimination and denial of their constitutional and human right to rally and march.  Marchers are marching and rallying in 60 cities around America and in London and Africa to demand justice for Black People and improvement in our conditions.

But “rally” might not be the best term for it. The group, rather, uses other words including “confrontation,“ and says the protesters will use ”whatever action is necessary to relieve oppressive conditions against Blacks in New York and around the planet.” And apparently the law doesn’t matter: it will hold the event “with or without a permit.”

For those of you who are not aware, Khallid Muhammad was the original leader of the NBPP. See for yourself in the video below what these Blacks want to do to all Whites. Notice the nice Black Grandma’s in the audience giving an AMEN to all his plans…

The march is set for this weekend, so we will see how their day turns out…
