Mom To Sue Westerville City Schools, Police After Children Handcuffed
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – A mother said she would file a lawsuit against the Westerville City School District and the Westerville Police Division after her two children were handcuffed and detained following a fight on a school bus.
On Oct. 19, Westerville Police said Tonya Mitchell’s children Mikeal, 8, and Michelle, 7, became physically aggressive with their bus driver, 10TV’s Jessa Goddard reported.
The two children were also accused of shouting expletives at their principal and police.
Byron L. Potts, the family’s attorney, said that police put the children in handcuffs and kept them in a holding cell until their mother arrived. The children were charged with disorderly conduct, but the Franklin County Juvenile Court dismissed the charges because of the children’s young age, Goddard reported.
School administrators said that there was no other option but to transport the children to juvenile holding cells. Potts said the incident traumatized the children. MORE FROM 10tv

Handled perfectly by the authorities. At that age, developmentally, children only understand concrete concepts and consequences, such as if you assault someone, the police will detain you. Mom should thank the police for teaching her children a valuble lesson, and for not fining them. Not even 7 year olds are above the law. She has no grounds for claim.
I also know Westerville won't play their games, I remember The worst that happened to us on the bus was this time going to school and I think someone was goofing off or something it's been forever ago and we got taken to the bus compound and this old man got on the bus and was yelling at everyone calling us Hooligans and we all busted out laughing....but we would have never ever done anything like this. Maybe because we where raised The White Way
