I know, the little girl in the yellow is the mastermind behind all the intimidation. . . .
Children as young as three have been sent warning letters from police for playing outside their homes – raising fears of antisocial behaviour penalties.
One girl’s parents were shocked to hear their neighbours had complained about ‘intimidating behaviour’.
Caidence Leadbetter, three, appeared to have been accused of antisocial behaviour while playing outside her house in an official letter sent to her startled parents.
Two of her friends – seven-year-old Ellie-Louise and sister Isabel, four – also seemed to be implicated.
Their mother, Claire Cox, from Solihull, West Midlands, said: ‘I’m shocked – the letter implies they could be given Asbos.’
PCSO Allan Cameron wrote to the children’s parents telling them there had been reports of ‘a rise in antisocial behaviour’.
JULY 28TH, 2010 18:32CRIME WINS: GOVT SCRAPS ASBO
By jonathan_hemmettThe CXon DEms have today signalled the end of the ASBOs, despite evidence that ASBOs have driven down anti social behaviour and helped reduce crime. The BCS shows that crime is the lowest it’s been since there records began in 1980. Therefore this is a terrible decision by this govt as it will lead to the streets becoming unsafer. In my road ASBOs have led to problem families being controlled and yobs being disarmed. Before ASBOs elderly neighbours near me nwouldnt leave the house because they knew it was risky. Thanks toi ASBOs this has been removed as a threat, yet somehow this govt doesnt think the safety of people that imporant. Many councils emply ASBO officers and there are people who have to admionuister ASBOS, so the govt are happy are they to lay off frontline staff? Many Labour Councils have sucsfully built up ASBO caseworkers whose task is to ensure communities are safe. What will the public do when these people are given their p45?AsboS are a way of effectively removing treoublemakers from the streets and curbing bad behaviour, they can also name and shame problem people and lead to betteer communities. There removal is a white flag waved by this govt and today the criminals will be laughing their sicks off.
He described ‘minor damage to trees and trampling of plants underfoot’ by ‘large groups of children’ as ‘slightly intimidating to elderly neighbours’ and said the council would be informed about any subsequent damage.
West Midlands Police has moved to reassure parents their young children would not face Asbos.
Supt Kevin Doyle said the letter was ‘a general reminder’ and ‘not aimed at any family in particular’. >>more<<
